Be Very Specific, For Fun and Fortune

I believe strongly in the power of attraction. You have a positive attitude, positive things will come your way; and not solely because your attitude means that you are NOTICING more positive things.

Sure, there’s that practical side of it: to see blessings instead of setbacks means that you’ll see more blessings instead of setbacks, and lo, the trumpets blared and the prophets did declare a most righteous

DUH.

I believe the foo-foo stuff, too. That if I use the power of my mind, my thoughts, to attract something, it will come. It’s like meta-gratitude: you think about that great thing you want, as if you already have it. And if you already have something that you really want, then you will be grateful. Bam.

So anyways, recently I got to thinking how nice it would be if I didn’t have to work. If I could just get a bunch of money, without working. Yes, I could do all sorts of Not-Working! I could Not Work practically all the time! All while somehow mysteriously getting a paycheque.

Reader, it happened. You may recall from my previous post that I was in a not-so-bad car accident that has left me with whiplash and post-concussive brain addledness (for reference, imagine that my mind were a control room. now imagine that the people working in said control room all left, and the doors were left open, and feral raccoons stormed in and have begun chewing on all of the wires and playing Frisbee with my short term memory.) My doctor says I can’t work until further notice.

And insurance is going to pay for everything. Physio, massage, replacing my pay… I will also fight for a nice settlement from the other guys’ insurance because he was entirely 100% at fault. Money. Without working.

Those same prophets are now all up in my face like

YOU SHOULD HAVE BEEN CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISHED FOR!

And fate / the universe, who so kindly provided my Not Working While Getting Paid scenario, is either

a) sitting on its haunches like an eager dog, thinking it has done very well to have brought me exactly what I ask for and ready for the next command, or,

b) laughing maniacally, saying “YOU REALLY SHOULD HAVE BEEN MORE SPECIFIC HAHAHAHA”

Because you see, the reason I wanted to Not Work is so that I could WRITE. All the time. All day everyday. I am slightly too raccoon-brained for that right now, despite this one surprisingly long stretch of lucidity.

Oh, it’s leaving now. The raccoons just learned to play golf.

I love this line from Wild Land: “Elizabeth pursed her lips and he could see her instincts unfurling with a pantherine control and ferocity. He thought he saw her age in front of his eyes: from a teenage girl who had never quite fit into a leader, a hero, a new medicine woman for a new illness.”
she turned from a caterpillar into a butterfly, thanks to Cameron!

“Elizabeth squeezed Cameron’s hand, looking back at him, at those beautiful light blue eyes, which were always so bright, even now.”
    Those eyes sound hypnotic :)

This sentence definitely caught my attention:
“It took a long time to focus on sounds, because for a moment, she was overwhelmed by smells: Dinky smelled like wood and dust in sunlight, a hot smell that made her skin prickle. On her other side, Cameron smelled like pine and summer wind and . . . home. It was too much, having them both so close by, and she felt her heartbeat quicken as heat began to form and then spread between her legs . . . if only they would touch her, both of them, . . . touch her and kiss her and run their mouths and hands over her. There was a lurch low in her stomach and the heat between her legs became a steady pulse. It didn’t take much to conjure up images of both of them naked. To have double that smooth, hard skin pressed against her . . . she stifled a moan as she became wet.”
I think I got wet reading this!

“She wondered if this was how the Creator must see the man: with a soft glow, his eyes so bright that they illuminated the air around him. He was watching her and it made her smile.” :) :) :)

“I think . . . that’s she’s talking about how easy it is to be happy when you’re living a good life, how if you live in your own garden of paradise and have kindness and love, then it’s easy.”
I couldn’t agree more wholeheartedly, you dear person :)

“It was now an ancient stand of hemlock and cedar. Samantha walked through it reverently and allowed the sacred energy of ancestral trees to guide her in her search. When she emerged on the other side, it was to the field that she and Dinky had made love in.”

“My name is Bern,” the man answered, with a strong accent. Bern donned a distinctly un-Dinky-like, roguish smile that Samantha would come to love more than the rising sun.”

“They married,” that roguish smile again, and already, Samantha could barely look away from it.
“I think that we have a lot of catching up to do, Bern.”
Bern touched Samantha’s chin, tracing her jaw with his finger.
    “Yes. We do.”
    THE END
